Celebrated Humaist photographer Salgado joins forces with Italian coffee producer Illy to pay tribute to the world’s green coffee growers.

‘In principio’ (In the Beginning) was conceived by Illy to give greater visibility to the history, customs and landscapes of the green coffee growers that it works with.

The exhibition features 25 images, previously unseen in the UK, taken by Sabstiao Salgadao as part of the 5 year commission from Illy.

The month long exhibition of these powerful images is the result of Salgado’s travels through Plantations in Brazil, Ehiopia, Guatamala and India.

The exhibition closely reflects Illy’s approach to sustainable development – which is built upon nuturing a direct and mutually beneficial relationship with farmers; rewarding growers for producing the best quality beans by paying premium and sustainable prices to ensure the growers always make a profit.
